Daporizo

Daporizo is a small place located in the upper Subansiri district. This lush green valley is surrounded by mountains. These mountains are not very high in height. The Craft Centre in Daporizo is the major tourist attraction of the place. The bridge constructed from bamboo and cane in an extraordinary form is yet another attraction for the tourists visiting Daporizo. Caves and picturesque villages nearby are worth seeing. Daporizo, the district headquarters and the chief trade center is occupied chiefly by Tangin and Hilmiri tribes. The people of these tribes are very fond of dressing. The men of these tribes have the front hair of their head tied in the form of a bun. Appealing cane ornaments and cane rings are used by the Hilmiri womenfolk to dress up their bodies.

Best time of the year to travel to Daporizo lies between October to April. You will require woolen clothes during the winters while cotton clothes are preferable in summers.

The nearest airport from Daporizo is at Lilabari. Silapathar and North Lakhimpur are the closest railway stations from Daporizo. Buses are available from Lilabari and Itanagar.
