Hill Stations Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh is a dream-like tourist destination with wonderful hill stations. Travellers from across the world come to the hill stations of the state to enjoy their holidays. These hill stations are the best places for summer holidays. Ziro, Pasighat and Along are the famous hill stations in the state.


Ziro:
This heavenly town has beautiful hills dotted with pine trees. It is located at an altitude of 5754 ft. from the sea level. This hill station is also called 'Apatani Plateau' that is known for its Paddy-cum-Fish culture. The other striking feature of this place is the presence of the rivers of Subansiri, Nishi, Apatani, Dafla and Miri. The town offers an opportunity of trekking and hiking. This place shelters the Apatani tribes whose primary occupation is hunting and zoom cultivation. They also prepare a special drink called 'Apang'. There is a Government Handicraft Centre at the end of the town. Browse this centre for wonderful cane and bamboo items and other tribal handicrafts. Located at a distance of 30 km from the town is the Tale Sanctuary which is a natural botanical garden.


Pasighat:
The history of this hill station dates back to 1911. It is called the 'gateway of the state of Arunachal Pradesh'. It derived its name from one of its tribes called Pasis. Located at an altitude of 155 m above sea level, Pasighat is steeped in natural beauty. It is one of the best places for photography and is aptly called 'Photographer's Delight'. The mighty river Brahmaputra (originating from Tibet )flows through this hill station adding more charm to it. A trip to this great hill station will heighten your emotion of pleasure. Its mesmerizing river valleys attracts many a tourist.


Along:
It is one of the oldest towns of Arunachal Pradesh. It boasts of amazing natural surroundings dipped in beauty and serenity. It is located at an altitude of 300 m above sea level and is the headquarters of the west Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Tourists come here for escaping the scorching heat of plains. The hill station offers a captivating view of the valleys below. This town is ideally located at a place where the Sipu river merges with the Siyom river. River rafting, fishing, trekking and hiking can be enjoyed at Along. Other attractions in Along are the Ramakrishna Ashram and Hanging Bridge(made of cane and bamboo).
