About North-East India![]() North East India is a land synonymous with beauty and diversity. Blue Mountains, Lush Green Valleys and beautiful rivers are an integral part of it. Situated in the Eastern Himalayas, this region shows a great deal of diversity in terms of culture, ethnicity and scenic beauty. North East India refers to the easternmost region of India comprising of Seven Sister States and Sikkim. The seven sister states are Assam, Arunachal Pardesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. For most of their history, these states were independent and they became the part of political India only during the British Raj. A lot of tourists travel to this region every year. The bio-diversity of the region is equally praiseworthy. This part of India is famous for its wildlife and trekking tours. The culture of this region is highly influenced by Tibet. Assam: Arunachal Pradesh: Meghalaya: Nagaland: Manipur: Mizoram: Tripura: Sikkim: Rich in flora and fauna, Sikkim is a big hit with tourists. Its main attraction is the mighty Kanchanjunga, the world's third highest peak. |
