Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden

Blessed with mesmerizing beauty, Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden is full of greenery and serenity. It is located near Rumtek Monastry in Sikkim. It is a home to several species of plants, trees and flowers. Beautiful Flowers and Orchids of the Himalayan region are present in abundance here. The Garden is under the supervision of the Forest Department of the Government of Sikkim. Undoubtedly the Garden is a paradise for plant enthusiasts. The garden was established in 1987 . Its vegetation also consists of dense temperate Oak forest. Around 50 different species of trees can be spotted here.

Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical garden is located only 24 km from the capital city Gangtok. So reaching here is never a problem. If you are staying in Gangtok, then you can spare some time and easily visit this beautiful garden. Even from other places its not very far off.

Its ideal location at an high altitude ranging from 1800 m to 2220 m is the reason for its rich variety of plants and flowers. The green house in the garden is a home to several varieties of Orchids. Good news for children – there is a small area in the garden which is dedicated to children. Here children can enjoy the swings.
