Dehing Patkai Festival AssamThe enchanting Dehing Patik Festival of Assam is a great festival organised by the Government of Assam. The festival is named after the huge Patkai range and the beautiful Dehing river. You will be delighted to know that this festival is a wonderful amalgamation of Craft Mela, Cultural programmes Food Festival and Adventure Sports. The interesting adventure sports are organised on the mesmerizing islands of river Brahmaputra. The very mention of the venue of the festival conjures up images of interesting water sports such as para sailing, kayaking and fishing. It is an annual event hosted in January at Lekhapani in Assam. The purpose of this festival is to bring the tourist potentialities of the catchment areas of the river Dehing and the Patkai foothills into limelight. Truly, these areas have so much to offer to the visitors in terms of natural beauty, adventure and fun. Sightseeing is also organised during the festival. Wildlife safaris, golfing, trips to Tea gardens and a trip to World war II cemeteries are a few to name. Also, you can opt for an elephant safari to the Stilwell road which was once the road to the beautiful land of Mayanmar. Digboi town is also located nearby and can be visited to see its Oil field(the first oil well of Asia is located here). |
