About The Park:
Sprawling over an area of 212 sq km, Nameri National Park is located in the foothills of Eastern Himalayas. It is a natural home to a wide variety of wildlife including the endangered species like White Winged Duck. The Park shares its border with the Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary, Arunachal Pradesh. Nameri is proud to be a home to the Khasi hill terrapin or the Assam reef turtle. When it was believed that the turtle has extinct, it was found in Nameri in 1992. The vegetation of the Park consists of semi-evergreen, moist deciduous forests interspersed with cane and bamboo and grassland strips.

The wildlife population inside the Park consists of Assamese Macaque, Capped Langur, Wild dog, Golden Backed Jackal, Bengal Fox, Civet Cat, Hog Deer, Barking Deer, Mouse Deer, Tiger, Leopard, Jungle Cat, Leopard Cat, Fishing Cat Indian Grey Mongoose, Wild Boar, Indian Porcupine, Indian Pangolin, Fulvous Fruit Eating Bat and Flying Squirrel. Birds are also found in abundance here. Some of them are white winged wood duck, four different species of the Horn bill, Blue beard bee eaters, babblers,plovers and many more.

Elephant safari is the best way to explore Nameri National Park. It truly heightens the pleasure of sighting the wildlife. Enjoy boat rides on the Bhorelli river, and fishing is one activity which needs Government permission. Other exciting attractions are trekking and river rafting. In fact Nameri National Park is all rolled into one – thrill, adventure and fun.


How To Reach:
Air: It is easily accessible from the nearest airport Saloni which is 181 km from Guwahati.
Rail: Located at 21 km from the Park is the Rangapara railway station.
Road: Good motorable roads connect Nameri from Kaziranga, Guwahati and Teezpur.
