Peren Nagaland


Peren Village, Nagaland

Peren is the district headquarters of Nagaland's eleventh and newest district- Pheren District. It is located at an altitude of 1445 m above sea level. Tening and Peren are the main towns of the district. Peren is a home to several tribes of Nagaland but the majority of the population consists of the Zeliang and Kuki tribes. The main languages spoken here are Zeliang, Rongmei, Kuki and Ao.


Attractions in Peren District:


Benrue Village:
Benrue is a tourist village located at an altitude of 1950 m above sea level in the Peren district. A stay at this village will add more excitement to your holidays. There is a wildlife sanctuary around this village where a wide variety of wildlife can be spotted. The people here make a special bread called Kennie Nku which can be tried out when you you visit the village.


Mt. Pauna Tourist Village:
Situated along the Pauna mountain range, Mt. Pauna Tourist Village resort is an extension of Benrue village. This tourist village boasts of beautiful cottages built under the trees.


Mount Pauna:
Mount Pauna is the third highest peak in Nagaland offering panoramic views of nature. It also offers great trekking opportunity. The most favourable time for trekking is November. There are several places around Mt. Pauna where ancient articles can be seen. Some of them are monoliths, amazingly shaped stones and rocks and morungs.
