Admired for its beautiful Shiroi Lily(Lilium mackleanae Sealy), Ukhrul is an arresting district of Manipur. Shiroi Lily is found on the peak of Shirui Kashong which is located at a distance of 18 km east of the district headquarters. This rare and world famous flower was discovered by Frank Kingdon Ward in 1946 when he came to Manipur Hills for botanical collection on behalf of the New York Botanical Garden.
