About The Sanctuary:
Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary becomes the perfect host to migratory birds such as lesser whistling teal, white ibis and open billed stork in winters. It is located 35 km from the capital city Agartala. It is rich in the population of birds and primates. The vegetation is equally exciting. It has 456 plant species and some wonderful and endangered floral species found here are Nageshwar ( Mesua ferrea- state flower) and Agar (aggreria agglocha).
Covering an area of 18.53 sq km, the Sanctuary was constituted on 2nd February 1987. A variety of wildlife is seen here. The endangered species seen here is Dukul ( the green Imperial pegion-state bird) and groups of Phary's leaf monkey-State animal. The moist deciduous forest of the Sanctuary shelters five different species of primates such as Rhesus macaque, Pigtailed macaque, Capped langur, Spectacled langur and slow lories. They can be easily spotted here. It boasts of the crab eating Mongoose which was last sighted about 72 years ago in India has been sighted in this Sanctuary. It is a known wildlife sanctuary of North East India.

How To Reach:
Air: The nearest airport is Agartala which is connected by flights with Delhi, Kolkotta and Guwahati.
Rail: Kumarghat and Dharama Nagar are the nearest railway stations.
Road: Agartala is well connected by road with Silchar, Guwahati, Shillong and Dharmanagar.
Accommodation:
Forest Dak Bungalow 'Absarika' and five cottages are available for accommodation inside the Sanctuary. Agartala which is quite near to the sanctuary offers a wide range of accommodation facilities.
