Famous for its great attractions, Udaipur is located in the north eastern state of Tripura. Its places of tourist interest attract tourists from across the globe. It is situated only 55 km from the capital city Agartala. The original name of Udaipur was Rangamati and Radha Kishorepur. It is a sacred spot dotted with the famous temples of Tripura and hence is known as the 'temple town of Tripura'. Tripura Sundari and Bhubaneswari temples and Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary are the main attractions here. Tripura Sundari temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas which is also known as Matabari temple. It is perched on the Dhanisagar hillock. The temple is dedicated to Ma Kali and is built in the typical Bengali hut style.


Bhubaneswari temple
boasts of its amazing architecture. It was built on the bank of river Gomati in the 17th century by Maharaja Govinda Manikya. The famous Bengali writer Rabindranath Tagore mentioned this temple in two of his plays, namely Rajarshi and Bisharjan. The Stupas of the core chamber of the temple are decorated with floral motifs.


Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary
boasts of beautiful migratory birds such as lesser whistling teal, white ibis and open billed stork in winters. It is a home to 456 species of plants. Here you can sight the endangered crab eating Mongoose and five different species of primates.


Udaipur is well connected with all the major cities of Tripura and with the rest of the main cities of India by air, rail and road. The nearest airport is located in Agartala. Kumarghat is the nearest railway station.
