Occupying a prized place in the north eastern state of Tripura, Agartala is located in close proximity to Bangaladesh, just 2 km away. Its pristine beauty manifests itself in its peaceful gardens, stunning palaces, huge hills, beautiful temples and captivating lakes. Agartala is the capital city of Tripura. Rich flora and fauna are the characteristics of this land. It produces tea, jute, rice and oilseed in abundance which makes it a commercial centre of Itanagar.

Bengali cuisine is quite famous here. Rice, fish and dal are the main dishes. Both vegetarian and non vegetarian food is available. The place is dotted with several good restaurants where you can gorge on exciting cuisines.

Rail: Trains from Kumarghat railwaystation and Dharama Nagar connect the city with Lumding and Guwahati. They in turn are connected with other main cities of India.
Road: Good bus services connect Agartala with the main cities such as Guwahati, Shillong, Silchar and Dharmanagar.

Accommodation is never a problem in Agartala. The hotels are small but good in terms of facilities and services. Different types of hotels are available catering to the budgets of the tourists. Welcome Palace, Sagar Mahal Tourist Lodge, Rajarshi Hotel and Uttarmegh Tourist Lodge are quite popular.
