Aizawl, the state capital of Mizoram, is situated 3715 feet above the sea level. The place catapults in huge numbers both domestic as well as foreign tourists. Aizawl is the largest city of Mizoram and a cultural as well religious hub for the locals.

The best time to travel to Aizawl lies between November to March. The temperature in summers ranges from 30 degree Celsius to 20 degree Celsius. While in winters the recorded temperature is between 21 degree Celsius to 11 degree Celsius.


Reaching There
Shillong is the closest airport. By air Aizawl is linked to Imphal and Kolkata. Silchar in Assam is the nearest railhead. You can travel to Silchar through Cachar Express, Barak Valley Express or Tripura Passenger from Guwahati. Aizawl is linked to the rest of the country by NH ­ 54. buses and taxis to Aizawl are available from Guwahati, Silchar and Shillong. Bus services in the night are also available.

Accommodation is not a problem in Aizawl. All categories of accommodation options are available for tourists visiting Aizawl. The hotels and lodges are not luxurious but they are quite comfortable and satisfactory.


What to See:


Bara Bazar
All those who love shopping shall visit this main bazaar. Locals here are seen in their traditional dresses selling garments and other items of home decoration, useful products and wicker baskets.


Mizoram State Museum
This museum houses several interesting things like traditional costumes, historical relics and ancient implements. The museum is located at Mc Donald hill.


Durtlang Hills
A beautiful view of this place is offered by the picture perfect Durtlang Hills. This place is definite to satiate your desire to view the natural beauty.


Mini Zoo
The Mini Zoo in Aizawl houses a varied variety of birds and animals. Most of these animals are found exclusively in the Mizo hills only.


Bung
Bung is a must visit picnic spot located 15 kilometers off Aizawl. The place is atop a hill. Relax amidst the peaceful atmosphere of the place. Tamdil and Luangmual Handicrafts Centre are other attractions in Aizawl.
